Do you take insurance or is this private pay therapy?
I am a private pay therapist and do not bill insurance directly. This allows us to do deeper, trauma-informed work without being limited by diagnoses, session caps, or insurance requirements. You can use your HSA or FSA and I can provide a superbill if you would like to request out-of-network reimbursement. Many of the women I work with prefer this approach because it gives them more privacy and more personalized, consistent care.
How much does therapy cost?
The intake session is $200, and ongoing 50-minute sessions are $160. I believe in being transparent about fees so you can make an informed decision. If you are a birth worker, I also offer a graduated discount in the Birth Worker Support Program designed specifically for the unique emotional load of supporting others through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Do you offer virtual therapy for pregnancy and postpartum support?
Yes! All sessions are held through a secure telehealth platform for clients located in Virginia. This makes it easier to get consistent support without having to leave home, especially if you're pregnant, postpartum, or caring for a baby. You don't even have to put real pants on!
I’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t help. Why would this be different?
Many of the women I work with felt the same way before I started working with them. Traditional talk therapy can stay focused on thoughts, but pregnancy and birth-related anxiety often live in the body. My approach includes nervous system-focused, trauma-informed work so you’re not just talking about what happened: you’re helping your body come out of that constant state of bracing. This is key to feeling calmer, more present, and less reactive.
How is perinatal trauma therapy different from regular therapy?
This work is specifically focused on the emotional and physical impact of pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood. With my background as a Certified Nurse-Midwife and experience in labor and delivery, I understand what can happen medically and how it lands in your body afterward - or even long before labor! We’re not starting from scratch. You’re working with someone who already understands the birth world and how trauma and fear can take hold.
What if I feel so numb and disconnected during pregnancy or motherhood that I can't even word what's going on?
That experience is more common than most women realize. Numbness or disconnection is often your nervous system trying to protect you, especially if something felt overwhelming or unsafe. In our work, we go at a pace that feels manageable, helping you reconnect with your body and a sense of safety, so connection with your baby can grow naturally, without pressure.
